Meet the Venice Team Behind Vance Gate Repair Venice
We’re a small crew, and that’s deliberate. Adrian Vance built this company in 2014 doing commercial access-control work, where documentation wasn’t a nice-to-have, it was the job. That habit never left. Every technician who works a gate in Venice carries the same rule: name the part, name the condition, write the price before touching anything, and leave a photo record when the work is done. These are the people who answer the phone at (213) 267-6777 and show up at your gate.
Our People
Adrian Vance, Owner
Adrian started Vance Gate Repair in 2014 after years on commercial access-control sites, where a missing wiring diagram meant an angry building manager and a long night. He brought that same documentation obsession to residential gates in Venice: every visit gets a printed record of what was found and what was installed. He still takes service calls when the schedule demands it, which keeps him honest about what the crew actually faces in the field. When he’s not working, he’s usually reading about hydraulic gate systems that most people have never heard of, and he will absolutely tell you about them if you ask.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been with Vance since 2017, and he’s the guy who gets the calls nobody else wants. His specialty is swing-gate motor replacements on older Venice properties where the original arm bracket has been painted over, rusted through, or welded into something that shouldn’t exist. He’s certified on LiftMaster and FAAC systems and knows the other seven brands we service well enough to diagnose by sound. Marcus keeps a small notebook in the van with every gate he’s repaired, and he can tell you what he fixed at a property on Abbot Kinney three years ago without checking the file. Off the clock, he restores old motorcycles, which explains why his hands are never fully clean.
Elena R., Senior Installer
Elena handles most of our full gate installations in Venice, from pedestrian gates on walk streets to driveway gates that need new posts set in concrete. She came from a welding background before gates, and that’s the reason she can quote a repair or a custom modification without waiting on a third-party fabricator. Her specialty is getting a gate plumb and square on ground that hasn’t been level since the 1960s, which describes most of Venice. Elena took over the install side in 2020 and hasn’t missed a measurement since. She bakes sourdough on weekends, and the rest of us get the loaves that don’t pass her visual inspection, which are still better than anything from the store.
Danny K., Apprentice
Danny started with us in 2022 with zero gate experience, which is exactly how we want an apprentice. He does the tear-downs, the clean-up, and the parts runs, and he’s been learning motor diagnostics from Marcus for the past year. His specialty right now is photo-eye alignment, the infrared beam that stops a gate if something crosses the path, and he’s gotten good enough that Marcus stops checking his work after the first read. Danny grew up in Venice and knows the neighborhoods well enough to tell you which alleys are actually faster than the main roads during tourist season. He’s also the only person on the crew who can back the van into the narrowest possible space without making anyone nervous.
One Standard, Every Job

The crew in Venice operates under the same rule that governs every Haven brand across California: write the price before work starts. No estimates delivered verbally and then inflated later. No “we’ll see how it goes.” The price gets written down and handed over before anyone picks up a tool. That’s Clause 1, and it’s the reason our customers don’t stand over our shoulders while we work. Beyond pricing, every job ends with a documented photo record left with the customer: what was found, what was adjusted, what was replaced. And everything the Venice team touches is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If a repair isn’t right, we come back and make it right. No argument, no fee, no expiration date within that year. That’s the standard, and the people above are the ones who keep it.
