Signs Your Ghost Controls Access Control Installation Is Failing

• Keypad lights up but gate won’t move. The relay on the keypad board has stopped closing. Power is present, but the signal isn’t reaching the control board. New keypad, or in some cases just a relay swap.
• Remote works, keypad doesn’t. This is almost always a failed keypad or corroded keypad wiring, not a control board issue. If your remote opens the gate from 40 feet away, the opener motor and receiver are fine. The keypad circuit has simply died.
• Gate opens on its own, or won’t close fully. A failing safety edge or photo-eye can send a false obstruction signal. The access control panel is reading “obstacle” when there isn’t one. The part that failed is the sensor loop, not the motor.
• Vehicle exit wand works intermittently. The magnetic loop detector under the driveway is drifting out of calibration. If it works when a truck pulls up but not a sedan, the sensitivity threshold has shifted.
• Call box buzzes but no audio, or audio but no release. Two different failures. No audio is usually a dead speaker capsule. Audio but no release is a failed relay on the entry panel. Both are repairable without replacing the entire intercom.
