A third-party motor with a slightly different draw can send fault codes that make the board think the gate is binding. We use aftermarket equivalents only when the customer’s board has already been replaced with a universal controller. Signs Your LiftMaster Gate Motor Replacement Is Failing
- Motor hums but the gate doesn’t move. The capacitor or drive gear inside the motor housing has failed. In Venice’s salt air, capacitor terminals corrode faster than inland. If you hear the hum, the motor is getting power but can’t convert it into movement.
